This combo is just wonderful. Bait casting gear has to be balanced to operate properly. Rod flex to reel speed, casting stroke, line, lure, thumb control all those things and others blend into the perfect cast. It's a learned skill and one well worth the time to master. I've been asked many times how well the Packer rod from Emmrod works for bait casting. From my kayak, a canoe, powerboat , or just off the bank this rig is wonderful. The ABU 5500C is an old design but it still works today. It's an match made in angling heaven on the Packer.
