Here is a picture of my choice of spinning rod from the Emmrod lineup. It works very well from a boat or kayak and in my own case has landed loads of fish. The rod details are it's an Emmrod Saltwater pack rod spinning rod with 7 coils. With a reel similar in size to my Daiwa 1300SS it's a blast to fish with. In Shimano a 2500 series reel would serve just fine and up to a 4000 series would also work.
